About Sara

Hello! I’m Sara Fedewa, and am the owner of Birthing with Sara. I practiced as a DONA certified birth doula for eight years in the Lansing area and was a La Leche League Leader, until 2015. Since becoming an empty nester, I have brought my business back to life in 2023 and am now serving Calhoun, Eaton, Ingham, Jackson, Lenawee, & Washtenaw counties. I have also added postpartum doula, and meal planning services. I am working toward recertification through DONA.

I believe that a pregnant person and their partner should feel empowered in their decisions for their pregnancy and birth choices. As a doula, I provide emotional support, physical comfort measures, an unbiased viewpoint, and assistance in getting information to help make informed decisions. I have experience in providing doula services to persons that want an unmedicated birth, a medicated birth, a cesarean birth, a vaginal birth after cesarean (vbac), a hospital birth, a birth center birth, and a home birth.

I enjoy reading, crocheting, and cooking. In my spare time, I foster kittens, provide advocacy work, and tend to my plants. I have been married to my amazing and supportive husband since 2002. We have three beautiful children.

“Sara did a great job with coaching me through my labor, I spent 23 hours after my water broke and ended up getting
a csection. She stayed in the room with me for the surgery and stood up for me when they separated my child from
me immediately after birth and wheeled her out to my family. She encouraged everyone to wait so that I could be the
first one to hold my baby, and I can’t say enough how great of a mediator she was. Thank you Sara.” – Leontine

My birth philosophy is that I believe that a pregnant person and their partner should feel empowered in their decisions for their pregnancy and birth choices. As a doula, I provide the pregnant person and partner, if applicable, with emotional support, physical comfort measures, give an unbiased viewpoint, and assist them in getting information to make informed decisions. I will provide doula services to persons that want a natural birth, a medicated birth, a cesarean birth, a vaginal birth after cesarean (vbac), a hospital birth, a birth center birth, or a home birth. I will provide support however I am needed.
